Lee County School Music students can qualify for this scholarship. The student must be planning on attending a local university, either FGCU or FSW and the Major would be Music, either Performance or Teaching.
Each student will perform in front of a panel of judges and a live audience. They will be judged on not only the complexity of the music, but stage presence as well.
Each student will write a 750 word essay on ‘why’ they deserve the scholarship and whether they are a Music Performance Major or Music Teaching Major. They should go into some detail about their talents, dreams and goals.

I do this because I want to share my passions. I believe wholeheartedly that these skills can enable students, no matter the age, to grow and become a stronger member of society. I am structuring these scholarships to keep the talent, money and jobs in Lee County. By doing so, it will help create a stronger, more vibrant community.

Education was her passion. Chess Club was the vehicle she used for rewarding her students in math. It was by invitation only and her students worked hard to receive that invitation. She understood Chess wired kid’s brains into being problem solvers and it was her desire to see it spread throughout the community. We are honoring her legacy as a gifted Teacher by starting Mrs. Moore’s Chess Club Foundation, which will help schools receive funding to open their own Chess Club.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support.
